Is there a way to prevent GSP from creating the sample album?

That is, I'm fine with it creating a root, but I don't want anything added to it. I admit to not looking very hard at the source (yet) as I'm trying very hard to simply deliver a customized version at this time.

I had initially thought that it was created via the sql install script, but looking there I don't see it so am assuming that this occurs programmatic at the end of installation?

It is created the first time the app runs after completing the install wizard. If you don't want it created, you'll have to edit the source code. Try commenting out the contents of GalleryController.CreateSampleObjects().
