I am using ver 2.5.0. I did a search but could not find any item that fit my question. Is there a way to password protect an album? I give the password to those I want to view it! I looked in the site admin menu but nothing like it there. Thanks. John

JWB,

The beauty of GSP's ASPNET Membership is that you can assign people to a group and only they could view the album without requiring a login. You can set permissions on individual albums in GSP.

Good luck,
Dave

The problem is I do not run a membership Gallery. I was looking for a simple way to set up a album with a password. I would give that password only to those whom I wanted to see the album. I can not find anything like that in the the sys admin. Anyone can go to my site and open an album to view my photos. I was thinking of creating a special album with photos from a recent retirement party. What with ID a big thing now I would not want just anybody to view that album. Of course all of my albums are non downloadable so nobody could steele photos that way.

GSP does not support hiding an album with *just* a password. But you can set up an album that is hidden from anonymous users. Then create a user account that belongs to a role with view permission to the album. Then pass out the username and password and - voila - you achieve nearly the same thing.

It is admittedly a bit clunky, so I do have it on my radar to implement a password-only feature for sharing albums.

Thank you. I will look into it.
