Latency issue with admin functions

Hi - we are running GSP 2.4.8 on DNN 5.1.2 Professional / Win Svr 2008.

The latency problem we are having only occurs with accounts that have admin functions for GSP.

However it loads quickly for regular user accounts with view only rights to the galleries.

The gallery page takes more than 3 minutes to load most of the time unless it has been previously loaded but even then the latency will occur occasionally especially using the site admin.

I have been watching the folders on the server where the images are uploaded to and the objects appear immediately after you click upload. But the site still takes several minutes to respond and present the gallery.

Can anyone offer any suggestions or insight into why this would be occurring.
thanks.

There have been a number of performance enhancements since 2.4.8. Are you able to test with the latest version?

If not, I need more info. Do you see a difference between DNN superusers and normal administrators? What about a "regular" DNN user given admin access to the gallery? Are there a large number of roles in your app?

Fyi, in my tests I haven't seen a significant perf difference based on the logged on user.

Thanks for the quick reply - we are kinda stuck right now with 2.4.8 since we are a govt agency the source code must be hardened for XSS and SQL injection before we can deploy it to the system. The whole process takes some time to accomplish which is why we are still on a previous version.

The latency is pretty consistent no matter the role, whether superuser, admin or registered users with limited admin rights.

we do have quite few roles but this was occurring even during our initial standup with the superuser account. Event logs in SQL and IIS do not show any problems, the network doesn't appear to be the issue either.

I was hoping there was something apparent we were missing.

One of the key things you said is that the issue happens even for regular users who can admin the gallery. I am fairly confident the perf improvements addressed this type of situation.

I understand if you can't upgrade, but it is important to determine if the issue has already been solved. Can you make a copy of your site and install 2.6 to it to see if it makes a difference?

Thanks Roger, I'll see if that makes the difference.
