I am using a slightly older version of GSP 2.4.4 and have noticed that it will sometimes lose some settings. Specifically, I change the settings to always show the tree view, however sometimes when i come to the website, the tree view does not display, and when I go into the settings some/all of the settings are back to defaults.

[ ] Override the following default settings:
[ ] Show an album treeview along left side when an album is being shown
[ ] Show an album treeview along left side when a single media object is being shown
...

I am wondering if it could be some kind of timeout issue, or a rollback that occurs when something else fails?

I'll add more detail if I find better steps to reproduce.

I have occasionally noticed this myself but haven't been able to figure out the root cause. I have even put in some logging code on one of the sites where it is installed. It has something to do with the records in the gs_GalleryControlSettings table getting overwritten or reset to default values, but I don't know why.

If you can come up with definitive repro steps, I would love to see them.

Roger, this seems to keep happening on a regular basis, but I don't have way to reproduce yet. Are the default something I can just change, or even in the code?

Here are some recent headlines from my error log, if they give you any clues.

Those are all issues that I occasionally encounter but haven't been able to reliably reproduce, and therefore haven't been able to fix them. However, none of those are likely related to you losing the settings. I wish I knew what to do to fix it (or even repro it).

If you haven't yet upgraded to 2.6, you should. There have been a lot of bug fixes since 2.4.4.
