Hi,

I recently upgraded to DNN6, where GSP v2.5 was installed prior to the upgrade. Post upgrade everything seems to work fine for a couple of weeks. No other installs have occurred etc. Now all of a sudden I am get two exceptions on any pages containing the GSP module.

They are:

Page Load Exception:

DefaultDataProvider: DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider, DotNetNuke.SqlDataProvider
ExceptionGUID: 5ebfc0c6-b6c2-4152-bf0a-f745b302c1ae
InnerException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
FileName:
FileLineNumber: 0
FileColumnNumber: 0
Method: DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.ActionButtonList.get_ModuleActions
StackTrace:
Message: DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.ActionButtonList.get_ModuleActions() at DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.ActionButtonList.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Module Exception:

DefaultDataProvider: DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider, DotNetNuke.SqlDataProvider
ExceptionGUID: 0c3c1e7e-aec0-43df-b2e8-d6e50a2370e7
InnerException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
FileName:
FileLineNumber: 0
FileColumnNumber: 0
Method: DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.ActionBase.get_ModuleContext
StackTrace:
Message: DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.ActionBase.get_ModuleContext() at DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.ActionBase.get_ActionRoot() at DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.ActionBase.OnLoad(EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I've tried applying the latest 2.5.0 patches but this hasn't made a difference...

If I add the GSP module to a fresh page the same exceptions happen. No other modules seem to be problematic.

Any advice?

Cheers,

Matt.

The errors are happening in the DNN code, not the GSP code. That's not to say GSP isn't responsible, but there isn't anything for me to go on. Check both the GSP error log and DNN's event log - are there any additional clues that might help us out? I am especially interested in any errors where Gallery Server Pro is mentioned in the call stack or error message.

For the record, I have tested GSP in DNN 6 and - except for one issue I fixed in the patch - didn't find any trouble.

Thanks for the fast response Roger. Where would I find the GSP error logs?

The DNN event logs only contain lots of the above exceptions..nothing directly referring to GSP.

Cheers,

Matt.

There is an error log in GSP's site admin section. Choose Site admin from the Actions menu.

ok. The only problem is I can't access GSP on any page due to this error. Is there another way to access this information? File System? Database?

Cheers,

Matt.

Hi Roger,

I've looked in the database and found within the gs_Error table a single error that directly corresponds with the Page Load exception above. Can I send you this directly rather than posting it in the forum? What's the best email address to use?

Cheers,

Matt.

You can email it to roger*at*techinfosystems*dot*com. Copy each of the columns into the email. The formatting will be a bit weird but I should be able to make sense of it.
