Im sorry if this has been mentioned before I did search but couldn't find anything. I have uploaded the 2.5 patch, to see if that would help.

The message that includes "not an error" is just an informational message and nothing to worry about.

The 2nd message is the actual error and indicates the .NET Framework is unable to process one of your images. To find out which one, look through your media objects directory to see the point at which the thumbnail images no longer exist. You can narrow down which album by manually syncing specific albums until you get to the one that causes the error.

When you find the troublesome image, remove it from the gallery.

Thanks Roger I will look at that.

Another problem I am having is that most of the time i get blank thumbnails they're just a grey box, I have tried re syncing but it doesn't help. Any ideas?

Thanks again

That is odd. Can you share an URL so I can see for myself?

Sorry mate, the gallery isn't online im a network manager at a school and I was trying out gallery server pro to use internally. I have installed GSP on a server and can access it through the following http://10.7.44.16/galleryserverpro.

The media is on a Netgear ReadyNAS.

If I could see the gallery, what I would be looking for are network or javascript errors with a tool like Firebug. I would also be trying to figure out where the grey boxes are coming from - for example, are the thumbnail images saved to disk actually just grey boxes?

I haven't seen that behavior before, so it requires some troubleshooting.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for your patience with this. Checking the location where the thumbnails are saved they are actually grey boxes.

I have found that if I add the videos to the location and sync them gradually the thumbnails work fine but if i put all the videos in at once and try to sync them i get the grey boxes.

Thanks
Sean

I think I saw this same behavior recently with someone else. When I resync'd an album , that correctly created the files. In that case, the grey boxes were being created for image thumbnails and no errors were logged to the error log.

Does re-syncing an album with the 'overwrite thumbnails' option selected fix things?

I have tried re-syncing the album with the 'overwrite thumbnails' option but this hasn't fixed the issue.

Can you verify that you checked the actual thumbnail files that were recreated during the sync? I wonder a little that you are seeing cached images from the browser.

I did check the actual thumbnails and they are grey.

I did check the cached images and the ones that were working are now just grey boxes.

OK - another question: Are you using the GSP Binary Pack to create video thumbnails? If so, that means FFmpeg is creating those grey images, and I can customize my response based on that.

OK, for some reason FFmpeg is creating those grey images. By default GSP tells FFmpeg to grab a frame at the 3-second mark. So an obvious thing to check is whether the video is showing a blank grey box at that point. If so, you can change the timing on the Video/audio/other page in the site admin area.

If that's not it, then unless I can reproduce it so I can study it further, I am not sure what to suggest, or what I can tweak to get FFmpeg to work.

I think I have found the problem, for some reason it didn't like the video files. I converted them from mpg to avi and the thumbnails are working fine.

I am going to try my theory further but hopefully it is now sorted.

Thanks

The problem is now fixed it was a problem with the videos they were in mpg format and for some reason it didn't like them. I have converted them to flv format and they work perfectly.

Thanks for all your help Roger.
