I'm reading that you are working on a new version.
Any time frame on when this will be completed?

Also, when you offer your services to a standard install - what exactly is involved with a "standard install"?

Sorry, I need to provide more info.
I'm basically interested in the video options of the program.
Will either godaddy or hostgator be compatible for the program to run on correctly?

I expect 2.5.0 to be released later this week or next.

A standard installation includes copying the files to your web server, running the install wizard, and setting any requested options in the site admin area.

GoDaddy works fine, but I don't have any experience with hostgator. Personally, I have had good luck with Arvixe and can recommend them. They support the advanced features such as thumbnail extraction from videos, PDFs, and other files.

Since you brought up Arvixe they offer several different plans. With the personal plan being the least expensive will it work well with the upcoming 2.5.0 release as far as the SQLLite database is concerned. Is one plan better to use then another? Which plan do you use. Thanks.

Yes, 2.5.0 will work fine on their $5/month plan. Only go for a better plan if you have a higher volume website. galleryserverpro.com runs on their business plan and techinfosystems.com runs on their personal plan. Performance-wise, I haven't noticed a difference.

I did find out out one must use the ASP based plan. As far as setting up on my office machine, uploading and using 2.5.0, I assume it will be a transparent operation. Excuse me for my lack of knowledge in these things.

I don't know what you mean by transparent, but if you follow the install directions, it will work just fine.

I got signed up with Arvixe today using your link. While I'm waiting for Ver2.5 to come out I will set up a temp page using MS Expressions Web 4. It is fairly easy to use. It's a start.

Since I got signed up on Arvixe I was looking through their MS Web App Gallery and there was GSPro listed. Which version is it and is that an install that takes place on the server? I had no idea it was available apart from the GSPro site.

That is version 2.4.8. Yes, it is installed on the server.

Note that 2.5 should be available in a few days after MS verifies and publishes the version I submitted to them today. If you can't wait, then the stand-alone version of 2.5 is available immediately.

Thanks, I will probably wait.

Now that 2.5 is available I have a question. Which is a better way to go. Install onto my local machine and then move to the sever or install directly on the server. Also once 2.5 is installed on the server(Arvixe), I can then create gallery's on the server and upload images into the selected gallery. I'm asking because I'm not sure. I know, another dumb question but thanks anyway.

Whether you install locally first is up to you. Now that the WPI version is totally self contained within the web app, deploying to a server is as simple as copying the files in the web directory.

New galleries are meant to be hosted in new web pages, so you'll need to create a new web page for each gallery. That would typically be done with an FTP tool or your hosting company's control panel. See the Admin Guide for more info.

Thanks Roger. I had not thought of creating a new web page for each gallery.
