First this is a problem, and the solution, I just wanted to share with the community.

Problem: after uploading to the live website, the gallery seemed to be empty, and the login button did nothing.
Solution: Don't run in "Dedicated Application Pool"

See screen shots for more information.

Steps:
1. I download GSP version 2.4, for .Net 2.0
2. Did a local install that connected to the remote SQL Server database.
3. The install went trough without a hitch, and everything seemed to be working.
4. Copied the files to the web server (shared windows hosting environment, which I think uses DotNetPortal)

However, when I uploaded the files, the website didn't work right. Clicking the Login button did nothing, (no popup to login) and the gallery was basically empty, not pictures, or albums showing up.

After searching the forums I found one post mentioning the application pool running in integrated mode.

I was not sure what that meant, but i went to my web host, and under the settings for my new website, and found a setting for "Dedicated Application Pool", which was checked. I un-checked that box, and refreshed the website and everything worked.

I'll include some screen shots for visual.

I'm just getting started w/GSP, but it looks awesome. Thanks for all the hard work Roger. When I get my website up and running at full speed, I will definitely make a donation!!

P.S.
If anyone is looking for a good Windows/Asp.Net/SQL Server host, I am currently using www.Arvixe.com, which has a good Windows/Asp.Net/SQL hosting package, basically unlimited everything, including asp.net websites, and SQL databases up to 4GB in size, which was the selling point for me.... All for about $8 a month =:).

Thanks for the tip about the dedicated app pool. I did not know that trick, and I am sure it will help others. I think your solution will also help users getting the javascript error "dglogin not defined".

I have the same problem with 2.6, where is this 'Dedicated Application Pool' setting?

The original poster was using Arvixe and said it was under the settings for the website. Look there. If you are using another hosting company, you might have to ask them where the setting is. Or they may not expose it at all.

Hope this will be seen, wasn't sure if I should start my own topic. I just upgraded to 2.6 from 2.4. All actions performed without error...but my gallery is blank with no objects and can't login as others mentioned in this thread.

I was a little confused about the wording in the admin guide here:
3. (SQL Server only) Update the connection string to your SQL Server database in web.config with the one from your previous one (now named web_old.config). It should be named SqlServerDbConnection.

I am using sql lite so I did NOT make this change assuming the only two options this is referring to is lite and full sql server.

I second guessed this assumption and reverted my files and then tried making the connection string change but that really blew things up. So I reverted again, re-ran the update and still come out with an empty gallery. I did follow the directions on changing the gallery to run on .net 4 before I started the upgraded.

I am on my own web server and have full access to IIS. I tried looking at what is being mentioned here for the app pool but all I can seem to find that sounds similar is under Manged Pipeline Mode with the options being Integrated or Classic...Integrated is chosen, Classic breaks even the empty gallery.

Any suggestions? I'm stuck :/

Since you are using SQLite your first instinct to ignore that instruction is correct. It applies only to SQL Server users.

If you are able to return your gallery to 2.4 under .NET 4 and give me access to your server, I can do the upgrade for you. I normally charge $100 for this service but if your stalled upgrade is caused by a bug or requires some action that isn't covered in the instructions, I will waive the fee.
