First let me say Hi to Roger I hope your are doing well.

I have a strange issue I was running version 2.0 and upgrade to latest version all went well the site is up and running. My issue is that when connecting to the site on the LAN https works no problem and so does http however when connecting to the website outside of the LAN say through my home ISP our even phone the only thing that will work is http.If I put https in front of the website address the browser will eventually time out. This did work before the upgrade and I did check the firewall just to be sure that it still the same and it is.Any idea what would cause this?

Here is the what it says in safari browser IE and firefox pretty much do the same thing

Safari can’t open the page “https://www.xxxxxxx.us/galleryserverpro/” because the server where this page is located isn’t responding.

thanks in advance for any ideas

My knowledge is pretty weak in the SSL area, so I don't really have much advice. I don't test GSP under SSL. I am not aware of any problems, but I can't remember hearing anyone say they are using SSL, either. But I would have guessed I would have heard about it if it didn't work.

About the only thing I can think of is to try some basic troubleshooting. Can you navigate to one of the static files using SSL? Are there any other sites using SSL, and do they work? Check your application properties in IIS Manager to make sure everything looks right.

If you figure it out, please let us know what it was. I would like to know one way or the other whether GSP works under SSL. If not, I should try to figure out what the issue is.

Well after running serveral packet captures and looking at them they all showed the same thing. It would work fine with http and https on the local LAN and and then would only work with http outside the local LAN and when using https it would get dropped. So I went back and look at the the 2000 plus lines of access lists in the firewall and found that the access list going to that server from outside the LAN allowed http but not https. So when I fixed the access list it worked again :) I think what happened is so that nobody could access the site while I was upgrading GSP. I changed the access list for http and https to not allow then when I finished the upgrade I only changed back http to allow and forgot about https. The funny thing is I checked this out I dont know how many times and on my very last time of checking it out before I was going to look in another direction I saw the problem.Roger thanks again for GSP its great and I hope you and your family have a nice holiday weekend.

Glad you got it, and thanks for the confirmation that GSP works with SSL.
