I have my gallery setup to require administrator approval, and to send an email to my account when a new account is created. The email verification is sent to the new user and the user comes back and completes the verification. I would expect the next step is that an email is sent out to the user specified in the "Send an email to the following users when an account is created"... unfortunately, this isn't happening..

I confirmed that the "Require administrator approval to activate account" is checked. I verified the email settings and received a test message from the server. I can receive the new user verification email... I just don't see an email to the administrator account after the new user has verified the account details.

Any help would be appreciated.

Check to make sure your admin users have valid email addresses. I just did an experiment to verify it was working, and it did for me.

Hi Roger,

I am having the same problem using v 2.4.4. New users get the email welcoming them to the gallery and asking them to click the link to activate. Clicking the link informs them that their account is now active and awaiting admin approval (which seems to confirm that Gallery Server Pro should have sent an email). However, neither of the accounts set up to receive notification receives an email. When I manually go in and approve the account, the approval email is sent out.

I have confirmed that the email addresses for the two accounts are valid. I have tried using one at a time and both at the same time, but nothing shows up. I am using a gmail account to send the messages and it records all the sent messages. The only sent messages that show up are those that were received above. So, it appears that the administrator approval emails are not being generated at all.

Do you have any ideas about what might be wrong here?

Thanks for your help.

Well, I have more information. When I restarted my website, suddenly the administrator approvals started working. Yeah! So I went to clean up the list of people who were receiving notifications and removed one of them. And lo and behold it stopped working again. So I restarted the website and, voila, it started working again.

So I don't know why this is happening, but it appears that restarting the website after changing the list of users who receive admin approval notifications solves the problem.

I hope that this helps someone else who runs into this problem.

I was able to trace this to a bug and fixed it this afternoon. It will appear in the 2.4.6 release, due in a few weeks. Meanwhile, as John suggested, the workaround is to restart the app after making any change to a gallery setting (that is, a setting stored in gs_GallerySetting). This includes most pages in the Site admin area.

FYI, this bug also affects the "users to notify in case of error" setting.

Thanks for reporting this. Your detailed information was key in helping me reproduce it, which I was unable to do the first time it was reported.
