Hi, I've just installed Gallery Server Pro v2.3.3750 (server 2008, IIS7) and created a read only gallery using UNC path (\\server\share).

However, when I try to synchronize I get the following error, so synchronization doesn't seem to be happening.
Appreciate your help.

That error could happen if one of the directory names stored in the database differs only by case from the actual directory name on disk. Have you changed the casing of any directories (for example, from Vacation to vacation)?

Inspect the DirectoryName column in the table gs_Album and make sure the names you see exactly match the ones on disk. Manually update the table if necessary, or you can delete all the records if you don't mind starting over (you'll have to delete related records in other tables as well).

The code that caused the error could have been written differently to be case insensitive and to provide more useful information in case of error. I will make that change immediately and it will be in the next release.

Hi, Roger.

Thank you for fast response. gs_Album contains only 2 records - for the sample album:

AlbumId FKGalleryId AlbumParentId Title DirectoryName Summary
1 1 0 All albums Welcome to Gallery Server Pro!
2 1 1 Samples Samples Welcome to Gallery Server Pro!

So it doesn't look like it has even started to synch.
May be I should have removed this album before changing the path? Now it says it can't find the picture:

Error: Could not find a part of the path '\\Wat-fs1\shared\Yearbook Pictures\Samples\RogerMartinFamily.jpeg'

Delete the records in gs_MediaObject to get rid of the 2nd error - There is probably only a single one consisting of the sample image I include with GSP. You can also delete the Samples album in the gs_Album table. Restart the web site to force a cache refresh from the database.

Let's back up a bit and do a test. Change the media object path back to the default "gs\mediaobjects". Then add some files to this directory and try the synch. Does that work? If it does, then try to point to a share on your PC and see if you can synch to that. Eventually, work your way back up to your original share.

We need to figure out what exactly is causing your issue, and these steps should give us some clues.

Roger, sorry for your time.

A typo in the path. Seems to be working now.
Have no idea how that could happen... :-)

Glad you got it, although I am still bothered by the error message you got. I tweaked the code to hopefully prevent this in the future, or at least provide a little more info.
