Hi All,
Can anyone recommend a software package for editing .jpg metadata that works reliably with Gallery Server Pro? I have tried Thumbsplus 8.0 and Microsoft Expression Media 2.0 but the metadata is not reliably readable by GSP. Thumbsplus can read metadata written by Expression and vice verse but GSP can not reliably read either one.

Thanks,

Marty

I have been using the built-in feature of Win 7 and it has been working reliably. It may not have all the features you are looking for, but it is consistent and easy to use.

Thanks Roger,
Unfortunately I have not yet upgraded to Windows 7.

What is everyone else using to edit the metadata in their photos? Since my last post I have tried Exif Pilot and Adobe Elements with no luck. Am I the only one with this issue?

Well after trying several more photo editing packages, I have found that the best and simplest method to edit photo meta data is Microsoft Pro Photo Tools. This is a free program designed specifically to edit and add meta data to digital images. As far as I can tell it can do batch processes for mass editing items such as the copyright field etc. Unfortunately Gallery Server Pro can not correctly read the meta data written by this software.

This is very unfortunate. I SO want this to work.

GSP seems to be the best photo gallery available but this bug is a killer. So far, i have tried 8 different meta data reading writing packages trying to find one that will work with GSP, and they all work with each other but none work with GSP. Man am I bummed. :(

Unfortunately I do hot have the tools (compiler) to troubleshoot this issue. I gave the source code a cursory look but without more troubleshooting tools I am hosed. My programming skills are rusty at best and my c# skills even worse.

Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I will take a look at how the MS Pro Photo Tools package saves metadata to see if I can get GSP to read it. I may not have an answer right away but I will have it on my to-do list.

A program I have been using is Picasa which is a free download from google. You can edit tags and they import into GSP.

I have been using Windows Live Photo Gallery for my tagging. I feel like there is less clutter and it's easier to use than Picasa.
